Decorating With Sticks and Cones (For Tu B’Shevat!)

Tu B'Shevat Gold Branches

In case you are wondering why this bundle of sticks is propped against the wall, well the real honest answer is that I just don’t own a vase big enough to hold them! So while I do like the way these look, you might want to plan ahead before creating an arrangement like this one!

Don’t these cedar tree pods look like they grew on these branches? Well they didn’t, and if you don’t have cedar tree pods around your neck of the woods, you could certainly try the same thing with small pine cones.
And if there’s no pine cones to be  found, so not to worry, I’ve got at least one more project coming up using sticks, so if there are sticks to be found by all means, start collecting them! Wait a minute, it just occurred to me that one could use walnuts (in their shells) instead of cedar tree pods, so glad I though of that great alternative, which certainly makes this project more reader friendly. (You do know that I care about you all right? After all, who is this blog for? It’s for you!)

You’ll Need:

  • sticks
  • cedar tree pods, or walnuts in their shell
  • gold spray paint
  • a hot glue gun
  • a beautiful ribbon

How To:

  1. Spray everything gold and then stick it all together with hot glue. Add a nice ribbon.
  2. I must say, those are the best instructions I’ve ever written! (Excuse my silliness tonight, I’m just letting off some steam after a hectic day……all in the life of a creative mom.)

lol! I wouldn’t know what a cedar pod looked like if you lobbed one at me! But walnuts – now thats something I’m familiar with :0D
I think the sticks look great just where they are… and they are all the rage at IKEA

Hi Sheva, I do my best to find nice looking sticks, and of course these are special sticks from Eretz Yisrael, which might be why they look so good to you!
