Let The Pesach (Passover) Crafting Begin!

Pesach Craft Preview

I know, some of you are wondering when I’ll start posting crafts for Pesach! With only one month between Purim and Pesach, well it’s a bit of a tight schedule when it comes to crafting especially in light of the fact that there’s so much work to do in the house. But since I really do take my position as self appointed creativejewishmom, I’m forcing myself to spend a bit of time coming up with some fun projects for Pesach!

I don’t have anything yet to show but I thought I’d give you a basic list of what’s in store so that you can be sure to have everything you might need on hand. This is just the projects for next week, there may be some more last minute sewing projects like afikomen bags, a matza cover and possibly some felt food (I may be dreaming as far as that goes!) so don’t pack away all your fabric in the attic, leave a few pieces in a reachable spot!

Top Left: Crafting With Heavy Weight Aluminum Foil:

You’ll Need:

  • heavy weight aluminum foil or aluminum baking pans
  • permanent markers in bright colors

Top Right: Frogs frogs and more frogs: a few projects

You’ll Need:

  • fimo in green, yellow and red, and/or modeling clay in these colors
  • green 1″ or bigger craft pompoms and green and red pipe cleaners, googly eyes 1/4″ or bigger, and small pieces of green felt

Bottom Left: Kriyas Yom Suf (Splitting of the Red Sea) Project

You’ll Need:

  • several shades of blue tissue paper, silver glitter glue
  • white or light colored cardboard or heavy weight paper that you’ll mount onto cardboard

Bottom Right: Paint Gorgeous Wine Glasses for the Seder!

You’ll Need:

  • cheap wine glasses, and especially some imitation crystal ones
  • glass paint: acrylic for kids, oil based for adults
  • electrical tape and a dense sponge (like a makeup sponge or miracle cleaning sponge)

Okay, now that I’ve got this out of the way, I’ve got to go make some decorations for a birthday party! I don’t think my son will understand that just because he was born 2 weeks before Pesach his birthday should be any less than those during the year! And he’s right so wish me luck!

My favorite Pesach project — the best eggs EVER! Cover the bottom of a large pot with onion skins. Add 10-12 eggs, water to cover, and a thin layer of oil. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 2-3 hours. You will have beautiful and delicious chocolate-brown eggs. But here’s the best part. To create karpas prints, before cooking them, place a fresh parsley leaf on each egg. Wrap tightly in pantyhose squares and tie to hold leaves in place. Cut off excess string and material and continue to follow above directions. The results are absolutely GORGEOUS!!

Hi Lynne, This sounds great! Thanks for sharing, I just love the idea of the karpas eggs, I hope to try it and share with my readers.
I guess I can decorate some eggs after all thanks to you!
