Toilet Paper Roll Birthday Crowns

Toilet Paper Tube Birthday Crowns Grouped

Toilet paper roll birthday crowns will make your next birthday party so much fun. Put a birthday crown at each place setting, or even use them as napkin rings —a wonderful suprise for each guest. And when everyone puts a super sweet toilet paper roll crown on their head, adults included, the smiles will be non-stop! And for good reason, because with a tiny toilet paper roll crown on your head, you too will look beyond adorable. Sorry about my repetition of the word toilet paper roll crown, I’m trying to get recognized by search engines and they require repitition. All in a day’s work here at the blog! Now, back to the topic of toilet paper roll crowns.

Toilet Paper Tube Birthday Crowns

As you probably know, the toilet paper roll crown idea is not mine, it’s all over the web, but I thought I’d make some that were just a bit more detailed than the simple ones I’ve seen. We’ve now used these birthday crowns for two family birthday parties, and believe me, they’re great! And they stay on and are comfortable to wear. I have a feeling this is going to be a new family tradition for at least a few years.

And by the way, when my son arrived home from a trip to the store with “jeans” toilet paper I cringed until I discovered that the inside of the tubes were, yes, you guessed it, blue! I’m sure the toilet paper designers never dreamed that their brilliant idea of coloring the inside of the roll would make one crafter so very happy. And the funny part about this story is that when I asked my son what possessed him to buy blue “jeans” toilet paper, he replied that was all they had in the entire store! Truly a sign from crafting heaven wouldn’t you say?

You’ll Need:

  • toilet paper tubes (preferably with a colored inside, or paint the inside yourself)
  • a black permanent marker or paint pen
  • tulip fabric paint, blue and metallic silver
  • a hole punch
  • elastic thread

How To: With a pencil, draw the outline of the top of the crown on the tube, and cut out the silhouette with sharp scissors. Using a black permanent marker, make a thick outline around the edge of the cut-out design. And add something subtle like black circles to the inside of the tube as well. Using puff fabric paint, apply blue dots right over the black outline and as a border at the bottom of the crown. Add some vertical strips of metallic silver fabric puff paint dots and call it a day. Keep your designs simple and clean on these little crowns for the cutest results. Set tubes aside to dry overnight or until thoroughly dry, and keep away from curious hands as the puff paint smears very easily. Once dry, punch holes and tie on elastic threads long enough to go under the chins of guests both big and small.

I’ve been having the same issues as Rashmie. I leave comments and they disappear into the ether :(…

This is really awesome! When I was a kid, I’d make toilet paper rolls into pencil cases and whatnot. But the crowns work perfectly too! 🙂

My comment, too, seems to have disappeared. I shared some rather strange tidbits about german toilet paper, but I guess you will be able to live your life happily without knowing that the toilet paper my auntie used to buy had quotes and fun facts printed on it 😉
