Cellophane Stained Glass Window Craft

Celophane Stained Glass Craft Circles

Now you too can decorate your windows with colored cellophane and make gorgeous stained glass-like art in just minutes, that cleans up in minutes too! Just before Purim I decided that we needed a little bit of color on our windows, and thanks to this great idea that Tali of matzo soup posted here, I had already purchased some colored cellophane, so we were all set!

I cut circles, and squares and triangles from stacks of colored cellophane and then we had fun applying them to the windows with a mixture of about 2 parts dish soap to 1 part water! The results aren’t perfect as you do see the drips of the soap, but I’m sure if you wanted to have perfect results you could use a paint brush instead of smearing the solution on the window with your fingers, which is what we did. You simply dip your fingers in the solution, apply some to an area of the window and place the cellophane shapes on the window. So simple even a two year old could do it!

Our windows sure are looking happy now right? And here’s a shot of the big picture:

Just too much fun, I have to say, and really so very simple! So get yourself some colored cellophane and have fun livening up your windows for your next party or just because! And if you’ve started the Passover cleaning and well, quite frankly this isn’t up your alley right now, keep it under your hat for Shavuos!

This is so fun! I can totally see doing this on classroom windows to brighten up the room. Are these easy to remove, though?

Very easy to remove, and the stickiness looks like it depends on how much soap you use. You just pull them right off, but of course youll have to wash the windows afterwards!

I love this craft! Such a good idea to use cellophane and dish soap to make it stick. I did a similar activity with my son but I used contact paper and colored plastic from report covers. I love this! Thank you…

Hi Carolyn, Thanks so much! Id love it if youd join us on Craft Schooling Sunday! Preferably not with crafts that are specifically for Easter, (not that my readers understand this)
but anything else is great and wed love to have you!

Hi Sara! Thanks! That makes sense:) I did link up my Colorful Art Window Activity for last Sunday’s link up. I used contact paper and report covers…kind of a similar result to your beautiful cellophane windows, but I think your project is probably a lot more affordable (and that is a huge plus for me). I have heard about your blog for awhile through Crafty Crow, and now that I have a blog myself, and am more involved in the crafty blog community, it is good to get better acquainted with you. I will definitely be posting on your link-up party often! Thanks so much!
