On our little trip to Jerusalem two weeks ago we spent the night in the neighborhood of Nachlaot, a gritty yet somewhat exclusive little haven, that appeals to artsty folk and sort of reminds me of Tribeca in a way……..and though you wouldn’t know it looking at the buildings, real estate costs a small fortune here, literally. Though it’s near the famous souk Machane Yehuda in the middle of the city, so after you’ve spent all your money on rent, at least you can get bargains in the souk!

Just next to the small apartment where we spent the night was a two story home with some nice pots near the front entrance. Have never seen such tall trees in such small pots, so that was certainly interesting to me!

As always, I love architectural details from another time, especially iron shutters!

One of the car accessible streets in Nachlaot.

An interesting doorway.

Luxurious renovation in the middle of it all.

And of course no trendy neighborhood would be complete without some graffiti!
