Hanukkah Cookie Roundup

Hanukkah Cookies Piped Icing

Now is the time to make some festive hanukkah cookies with the kids! And while I’m still dreaming of doing it with my kids, (and it’s not the custom here in Israel, so they don’t feel they’re missing out on anything, phew) I thought I’d provide you with some inspiration from around the web from other creative moms. The recipe above is courtesy of The Jewish Hostess.

Hanukkah Cookies with Maccabee

Love this little gingerbread man who became Yehudah the Maccabee, from the crumb factory.

Hanukkah Iced Cookies

These little works of art are from much ado about stuffing, love that icing!

Hanukkah cookies dough

And check out the nice jelly filled cookies from repeat crafter me. Personally, I’d like to find a recipe for a dough that one can roll out but that uses oil instead of margarine or butter. Anyone out there have such a tried and true recipe? Happy Hanukkah!

This recipe is amazing and uses both oil and butter: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/vanilla-sugar-cookies-recipe
And, these are super easy, and delicious, but a different (softer) texture that uses only oil: http://www.food.com/recipe/grandmas-soft-sugar-cookies-11345/review
Both of these are drop cookies, rather than cut-outs.

Thanks so much Katrina! Maybe one needs the butter/margarine to make a crisp enough cookie for cut outs? Hmmmmm.
