Last fall, when I was fortunate enough to visit Barcelona, which I posted about here, here, here, here, here, here and here, we also took a day trip to the wonderful city of Girona, which like Barcelona is located in the Catalonian region of Spain.
After posting so many photos of Barcelona, the photos of Girona would have been lost, so I decided to save them for a moment in the future, and at long last I am sharing them with you! I don’t have time at the moment to really elaborate with the captions, so just enjoy!
The stunning and colorful back sides of buildings built on the river.
The historic sunflower yellow and brick red give the city so much vibrance.
Cobblestone streets, wrought iron balconies, and European charm that’s uniquely Spanish.
A truly unique site.
A combination of old and new, and yet it all melds together and one only sees the vibrant color.
Political flags and soccer team flags (Barcelona) are seen just hanging from balconies just about everywhere we went.
My jaw literally dropped, and stayed there for quite some time, when I saw this graphic stucco treatment from maybe 30 years ago, on a building that was built possibly 100 years ago or more.
And as we wondered back to the train station on a beautifully sunny fall day, we came upon this wonderful abc sculpture in front of a municipal building. Another wonderful combination of old and new that the Europeans do so very well.
