Crocheted Egg Cozy Winter Hat

I have a confession to make, are you ready? I introduced my kids to soft boiled eggs so that I could buy egg cups and crochet egg cozies. And it turns out that they actually like soft boiled eggs, now and again, and it’s an especially convenient little meal, with a good salad and some hearty bread to serve for breakfast or even as a light supper, Israeli style.

So there you have it, sometimes ulterior motives can actually be a good thing! As far as my egg cup collection and the crocheted egg cozies, well I did pick up some egg cups while in Amsterdam a year and a half ago, (I’ve only seen them once here in Israel) and last night I at long last tried my hand at crocheting egg cozies, as you can see here. Winter is here and so the winter hat egg cozies that inspired me, from out there in blog land, are perfect right now.

Too cute to not use as a little surprise for my kids, and actually possibly functional since prying one of my sweet book worms away from his book isn’t always so easy. At least now his soft boiled egg may stay a bit warmer!

    Nice very nice.
    You are right Egg cups are hard to find here, But Ages ago we received a plastic set, not very nice but quite useful it even has an edge for the broken shell…
    Tea and egg cozies are very much Dutch and English traditions ,,,,as the climates are colder, our foods would maybe be better off with `Tiny Coolers` in summer hahahaa

    Thanks MIrjam! i did see some all white egg cups at a Naaman store a year and a half ago or so, and am now kicking myself for not buying some, theyd look even cuter with some more egg cozies to come.
    And given the weather right now, egg cozies are perfect, brrrrr! All the best, Im crocheting up a storm, trying to make all those little projects ive been wanting to make, and yes, a tea cozy is certainly on the list too!

    Love the egg cozy idea. We have soft boiled eggs a lot,(being English but living in the USA) I have introduced them to my grandchildren and this would be a nice addition now. Thank you.

    Thanks Yvonne, you can google crocheted egg cozy and find quite a few patterns. Still need to find the one I like best, but this was a start! I didnt want to fiddle with a tiny pom pom, so just finished the hat with a point instead, though the pom pom topped ones are adorable. all the best!
