Crocheted Doggy Nosewarmer Is Perfect For Purim!

Crocheted Dog Nose warmers for Purim close up2

Ever heard of crocheted nose warmers? I hadn’t either until I received an email request to make one, and while i don’t generally do custom crochet orders, this one was a request by a newly-wed for a gift for his wife whose nose tends to get cold, so sweet I just couldn’t resist!

While there are some crochet patterns on the web, none of them worked exactly for me, so after a few trial runs, I wrote my own pattern, which was based on the one I found here.

Using a 5mm hook and worsted weight yarn, I used Red Heart Super Saver Yarn

To Start: ch 4 and join with a slip stitch

Round 1: ch3, 9 dc into ring (For adult size: ch3, 11 dc into ring) Join to top of ch3 with a slip stitch

Round 2: ch3, dc into same stitch as ch3, and then dc into each stitch around. join to top of ch3 with a slip stitch.

Round 3: ch2, hdc into next stitch, *2 hdct into next stitch, 1 hdc into next stitch. Repeat from * around and join with slip stitch to top of ch2.

Round 4: This round is optional, and only recommended if making nose warmer for costume purposes, otherwise you can omit this row. ch 2, hdc around, and join to top of ch2 with slip stitch.

Round 5: To make ear loops: Slip stitch into first two stitches and then chain 40 (45 for adult size), and slip stitch into same stitch as starting point for chain. Slip stitch around to the exact opposite side.  Fold nose warmer in half to determine where to start the second ear loop. Chain 40 (45 for adult size) and slip stitch into same stitch as start of chain.  Slip stitch around to first ear loop. Cut yarn and pull end through loop on hook. Weave in ends.

After you’ve completed your plain nose warmer, use googly eyes and black felt applied with hot glue to turn your little nose warmer into a cute little doggy!

That’s a really funny idea! I thought about nosewarmers from time to time – but I never tried. I love this version!
