Into The Woods……To Witness The Natural Delights Of Late Spring!

Pomegranite In Bloom

A pomegranite tree in bloom in my neighbor’s yard. Gorgeous orange-red flowers and the beginnings of tiny fruit.

Last week I took a walk with my 8 and 10 year old boys to the nearby forrest, and of course I grabbed my camera in order to document some of the wonderful sights here in Northern Israel in late May.

Grape vine beginning of grapes

Tiny grapes beginning to form on a grape vine in another neighbor’s yard! (Which we passed on the way to the forrest.)

Purple Thorns in May

Large purple thistles full of camouflaged bugs (look closely!)

Purple Thistles

And purple thistle balls which look so amazing popping up in the dry fields everywhere this time of year.

Almonds On A Tree

Ahhh, and yes, those are almonds! Fruits of the same trees that are the first to bloom, usually around Tu B’Shevat, and who are therefore greatly celebrated.

Cow In the Woods

Oh hello red cow, are you enjoying the meadows and forrest as much as we are?

Broche In Bloom

An evergreen with tiny little yellow buds, can’t think of the name in English, though it’s brosh in Hebrew.

Locust Tree pods

Love the pods on the red bush tree (I think….)

Sabra Cactus In Bloom

And since we’re in Israel, I just had to share with you a stunning blooming sabra, (the name by which Israelis are often called, prickly on the outside, sweet on the inside, namely the fruit) and that’s it for our walk into the woods!
