Yes, it is true, at long last I listened to my husband’s request for some crocheted socks to keep his feet warm in bed, and surprised him with them for his birthday on Chanukah. I know it is hard to tell in the photo, but these are actually quite large, well just right for a 10 1/2 sized man’s foot that is, and they really were quite simple to make.

I used two strands of the same yarn that I used to make the crocheted ribbed scarf, having snatched up the last six or so skeins that were available at the tiny family owned fabric store where I generally purchase yarn. And I’m sorry I won’t be sharing a pattern with you, as because I was pressed for time and couldn’t measure my husband’s foot lest I spoil the surprise, I bought a pattern, which is always a good idea in a pinch!
And by the way, did you know that you can turn socks into no-slip slippers by applying silicone (caulking) to the bottom? Don’t know if I could bring myself to do that, but it sure does sound theoretically like a great idea!
