Tiny Crocheted Bunting Pattern For Maileg Mouse Size Dollhouse

Tiny-crocheted-dollhouse-buntingI have now officially used up the four balls of VOG size 8 cotton thread that I used together with a 1mm steel crochet hook to crochet items for my 1/8 scale Maileg style dollhouse, which I wrote about in the previous post, and so working backwards, and using up all the bits and bobs, I'm sharing with you this tiny crocheted bunting made from crocheted triangles.

I'll admit this project was maybe way too much work considering one can easily make an item like this from felt or fabric triangles, but now I certainly know how to crochet a full sized version which is a great stash buster! It is very difficult to get perfect triangles at this size, but if you love the irregularity and just have to give it a go, to match other items, well do it! And since a large portion of the time was spent trying to figure out how to put the triangles onto the string, with trial and error, next time it will go much more quickly. Then again weaving in all those ends was also time consuming, wish there were a solution to that, maybe just cutting the end and applying a dab of glue? Wait a minute, I'm already planning more? That friends is how it goes once you enter the world of crocheting for dollhouses, it is surely addictive. Okay, let's crochet some tiny crocheted bunting, pattern to follow.

You'll Need:

  • crochet cotton thread size 8mm, and a 1mm steel hook (or any yarn and corresponding hook)
  • a needle for weaving in the ends

Crocheted Bunting Pattern To Make In Any Size:

Make a crocheted chain in the desired length, mine is roughly 30 cm long so I can hang it from the ceiling to wall, for example, you can make a much shorter chain.

The triangles are crocheted onto the chain in the last row in a manner such that they can then be moved, or removed if desired. This works the best visually for this scale, believe me I tried all the other options!

Crocheted Triangle Pattern:

Row 1: Ch 2, and make 2sc in second chain from hook, Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in first stitch, 2sc in second stitch. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Sc in first 2 stitches, 2sc in third stitch. Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: Sc in first 3 stitches, 2sc in fourth stitch. Ch 1, turn.

Row 5: Sc in first 4 stitches, 2sc in fifth stitch. Ch 1, turn.

Optional Row 6: Sc in first 5 stitches, 2sc in sixth stitch. ( I did not crochet this row, you might want to make triangles a bit bigger, or even continue in this manner for many more rows.)

Final Row: Place crocheted chain at top rim of triangle, and crochet one row of sc AROUND the chain such that triangle can be moved. Cut yarn and pull end through loop.

Note: If you want to move triangles around after they've been crocheted onto chain, simply remove and using a large yarn needle carefully re-insert chain into last crocheted row.

Crocheted-bunting-Maileg-mouseAs you can see in the photo above, I've crocheted a granny baby blanket for this mouse baby and his crib, stay tuned for that! It is the perfect little project to use us what is left over after crocheting two full sized 1/8 scale doll blankets.
