Summer planters filled with flowers, especially in places where there is a cold winter, are just so very very lovely! So proud of my plant loving brother (it is in the genes, apparently) for assembling this lovely example of "thriller, filler and spiller" using draecena for the thriller, impatiens for the filler and pink verbena for the spiller. And truly it just works, especially because of the trailing qualities of the verbena, which creates the perfect "spiller" look with interest and delicacy. So if you live in the southern hemisphere, give this a try, and for the rest of us, pin this post to keep in mind for spring, or even use it now in temperate climates with plants that do well in your area year round. And just for the record, one could of course use a dracaena with some other indoor varieties of houseplants to create something really nice as well, just minus the flowers.
Ahhh, summer flowers in planters, so very lovely and calming!
And just by the way, black or dark grey planters can look really great, as seen here, so either get out the paint or purchase some, your container garden will look even better. (note to self!)
