How To Make Fun Cardboard Dreidels With Collage, Student Version

Last week I shared with you how to make fun cardboard dreidels, and now I’m sharing with you my how to make fun cardboard dreidels with collage, student version. Meaning 3rd and 4th grade boys, who are truly a delight and were so happy with this simple project. In fact they are anxiously awaiting the next class, according to one mother’s report!

Imagine making a child’s week with just an hour or so of learning how to draw a dreidel and then decorating it with paper strips! Yes indeed friends. And I’m so happy to share with you the results and the fact that most of the boy’s did NOT copy my version. Rather they had the confidence to try something of their own, yippee. That is what I love about crafting with boys, most of whom (but not all) are not confined by their need for perfection, nor do they care what their peers think of their work, which is so very wonderful. Okay, lets make some fun and colorful cardboard dreidels!

You’ll Need:

• cereal box cardboard

• quilling paper strips (so perfect for this, but not mandatory)

• colored paper, light weight like printer paper

• a glue stick

• a ruler

• paper punches, such as a gear, a scalloped circle, and decorative edging

How To:

Introduce the children to drawing straight lines with a ruler, and the idea that a dreidel is basically a square with a triangle at the bottom. Show them how to find the middle of the square, and draw a line down the middle, such that the triangle can be drawn symmetrically.

Cut out the dreidel and decorate!
