How To Make Elegant Paper Candles For Any Festive Occasion

Learn how to make elegant paper candles for any festive occasion, and you’ll always have a perfect centerpiece idea to whip up, on a budget! Last year I made polka dot paper candles, which were truly fabulous, but this year I really wanted to go elegant with my crafty decorations, and thus gold paper candles were born. And truly, they are simple to make and look amazing, whether in place of real candles in candlesticks, or stuck into a wine or liquor bottle, or any number of possibilities! So much still to do for Chanukah, so lets get to it!

Supplies To Make Elegant Paper Candles:

• recycled magazine pages

• matt gold wrapping paper

• sparkle craft foam or paper for the flames

• toothpicks for the flames

• a glue stick and hot glue for the flames

How To Make Paper Candles:

  1. Inner core of candle is made by rolling a magazine page as tightly as you desire into a tube, and securing at the end with a glue stick
  2. Outer layer of candle is made by wrapping gold wrapping paper, cut to height, around magazine page tube, and securing well with a glue stick.
  3. For thin candles, one magazine page is enough, for thicker candles, use two magazine pages glued end to end.
  4. Flames are made by gluing two pieces of craft foam to a toothpick, to make a sandwich, and then tiny inner flame is added afterwards.
  5. If candles are too small to sit in any given container, make a band around the candle using sparkle craft foam to keep candle from sliding down into wine bottle for example.

Happy crafting, this one is a keeper!
