How To Make Gold Leaf Origami Dreidels

Chanukah is coming on Sunday night, so now is the time to whip up some quick decorations, that while made from paper can be elegant and festive! I previously shared my origami toile dreidels made from toile scrapbook paper, and now I share with you how to make gold leaf origami dreidels, which are equally stunning! And of course if you are super short on time, make the dreidels on the large size for greater impact with the same amount of work, at least the folding part, as making smaller dreidels. Gold leaf, whether flakes or sheets is such an interesting craft supply, and this is a great way to experiment with it! Ready, lets do it!

How To Apply Gold Leaf To Origami Dreidels

After folding dreidels according to instructions, brush diluted white glue or decoupage medium over surface area you’d like to cover. Drop flakes or sheets into glue and let them create the shapes they want to! If you use flakes you may need to pat them down a bit with a dry paintbrush, preferably a stencil or stippling brush. Set aside to dry and then wipe to remove excess. And voila, stunning dreidels all around!
