How To Make A Crown Shaped Cardboard Gift Basket

Introducing How To Make A Crown Shaped Cardboard Gift basket just in time for Purim and a fun craft for the entire family! Make as many cardboard crown bases as you need, get the kids to decoration them, and then hot glue them to a recycled cardboard base, and voila, so much fun, and they look great as Purim decor as well. And teaching kids how to make metallic balls from aluminum foil is lots of fun, though save the toothpick plus aluminum ball step for the adults! Ah yes, and just by the way, the examples here were made by my third grade boy students, and they loved it! Okay, ready to make some adorable crown gift baskets? Lets do it!

You’ll Need:

cardboard crown tutorial shared last week, before crowns were glued

• colored paper, textured draw liner, etc.

• a 3cm circle punch or any shape punches you have

• aluminum foil and toothpicks

• cardboard for crowns and base, recycled and printing on one side is fine

• glue stick for the kids, hot glue gun for the adults

How To:

  1. Make cardboard crowns according to tutorial, and give to kids to decorate.
  2. Teach kids how to make smallish and not too dense aluminum foil balls
  3. An adult can stick toothpicks into balls add a drop of hot glue, and then poke toothpicks down into cardboard such that the ball touches the point of the crown. (This can be done after glueing crown to base if you prefer.)
  4. Using hot glue, close crown and affix to a base piece of cardboard that is slightly bigger than crown. Arrange crown so it is symmetrical while glue is still hot.
  5. Trim excess cardboard around base.
  6. Use as a gift basket or holiday decor, you decide!

Have fun decorating and crafting for Purim!
