As you may well know, we just love Pacifica, California and at the very least it is the perfect place to enjoy flocks of stunning seagulls! There is nothing quite like the Northern California coast, and in Pacifica we have many opportunities to watch birds of all kinds, which is so very exciting. Previouslu I shareda post about the birds of Sharp Park Beach, and now heading north just a bit, seagulls! Sadly this past August I noticed that there were fewer brown pelicans, and sure enough, that is the case, unfortunately. Sea gulls on the other hand seem to be doing just fine and while thought of as a fairly basic bird, when they get together in a flock their flight is truly spectacular! So friends, all birds are marvelous (well except maybe the pigeons that are leaving too much excrement in my complex) no matter how common, and so wonderful to watch.

I can almost put myself in the spot where I was standing when I took this photo, wind blowing, not a soul in sight, except for my sun, and just us on the cliff, with the ocean and the birds. Admittedly, it was in the mobile home park, the mobile home park with the best location in the world I must add, though a very threatening site as the cliffs just to the north caved in and even an apartment building was lost, yikes. So I guess that is why there is a mobile home park there, not prime real estate, or maybe the city of Pacifica, which I know is anti development, believes that coastal property should be available at a lower price for those who would like a slice? Not sure exactly, but happy that we can walk through this spot and enjoy the view, on our way to shop at Safeway!

Goodbye seagulls of Pacifica, hope to see you again soon! And do take a look at the grid of Related Posts, below, to learn much more about Pacifica!
