Simple Crocheted Dollhouse Rug Using A 3DC Cluster Stitch

Friends, I have learned something really nice lately, and that is that adding just the simplest little crocheted items to a wooden dollhouse for young children makes a HUGE difference, and truly brings the whole thing together. Okay, I’ll admit, adding wall paper made from scrap book paper is also highly recommended and a huge game changer as well, but I started with the crocheted items, so you can too. Looking for a simple stitch for a textured dollhouse rug, using regular weight yarn? This is it! The groups of 3DC stitches which are on a grid (not like the granny square stitch) make a nice repeat pattern and is so simple to crochet. Basically you alternate rows of 3dc clusters with rows of single crochet. Want to start with the simple crocheted dollhouse pillows, go for it!

NOTE: This rug is actually a modified 3DC cluster stitch, but can’t quite figure out where I got the stitch pattern from. It is basically a 3DC cluster, which I’m posting below, only I crocheted the DC stitches as 3 separate stitches. When I do figure out the actual pattern, I’ll be sure to post it here.

Simple Crocheted Dollhouse Rug With 3DC Cluster Stitch

Start with an even amount of chains. Decide how large you want the rug to be, and make a chain accordingly

Row 1
1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. 1 sc in each of the next ch until the end of the row. Turn.

Row 2
ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), skip the first stitch, 1 cluster in the 2nd stitch, ch 1, skip 1 stitch, 1 cluster in the next stitch. *ch 1, skip 1 stitch, 1 cluster in the next stitch*. Repeat between * and * until you have 1 stitch left, 1 dc in the last stitch. Turn.

Row 3
ch 1, 1 sc in the 1th stitch, 1 sc in the next stitch (cluster of the previous row. *1 sc in the chain space of the previous row, 1 sc in the next stitch (cluster of the previous row)*. Repeat between * and * until the end of the row. Work 1 sc in the turning chain at the end of the row. Turn.

Keep repeating rows 2 and 3 to continue.

To complete rug, sc around entire perimeter.
