Welcome to Craft Schooling Sunday, thanks so much for joining me here! Summer is speading by, and we are now in the mourning period on the Jewish calendar called “the three weeks” leading up to the saddest day on the Jewish calendar, T’isha B’Av. Right now there are no weddings, haircuts, or listening to music other than vocal music (some wouldn’t listen to vocal music either, but there are a few groups whose vocal music is so good it sounds like they are using instruments) and starting 9 days before T’isha B’Av there are no celebrations whatsoever, no eating meat (except for shabbat) and for Ashkenazim no laundry except for babies, no swimming, no bathing for enjoyment, and more. And yes, all of this in the middle of summer vacation, and such is life!
Fortunately, there is no problem with crafting during the 3 weeks, so as I always say, summer is the time to delve into something new, and at the least get going with your succah decorations and even homemade gifts for December holiday giving! Okay, enjoy the features from last week’s party!
A wonderful dollar store centerpiece using a wooden from, some mushrooms, moss and flowers, from steph creates things.
A wonderful summer embroidered top made from a repurposed embroidered table cloth found at the thrift store, from ginx craft. Do rescue these items that someone else poured their hearts into and the family didn’t value it, so sad. Plus, embroidery is back so hand embroidered table cloths might be great as is, I’ve put a thrift store find on my kitchen table and just love it!
