Welcome to Craft Schooling Sunday, and wishing you all a happy sweet new year! My son''s bar mitzvah party is tomorrow night, and being the crafting over achiever that I am, well tonight is going to be a long one! So please excuse me if I didn't get a chance to leave you a comment for your contribution, or if there are any mistakes in this post, gotta run!
One really interesting story: i was at the neighbor's during Rosh HaShana and we were speaking about my son's upcoming bar mitzvah. The neighbor's sister mentioned that the caterer that we are using has flower centerpieces, and why not use those? (She doesn't know me very well.) The neighbor who does know me a bit better replied "That would be like the shoemaker whose children are without shoes!" A few days later another neighbor dropped by and saw me painting outside, and said "Well at least no one will be able to say that the shoemaker's children don't have shoes!" Then this Shabbat my husband without hearing this story mentioned the original phrase from the Talmud that talks about the shoemaker that doesn't even have shoes himself! I really can't tell you what all this means, but I can certainly say, that at this bar mitzvah party my son will be wearing some very over the top shoes.
