Plastic Canvas Envelope Memo Holder

If you are looking for a sweet little plastic canvas project, i will modestly suggest that my plastic canvas envelope memo holder surely fits the bill. In fact, because this project requires very little embroidery but rather relies on the plastic canvas as is, you could surely make quite a few of these as little gifts, and of course my addition of the heart is a sweet touch but for a more masculine version one could certainly replace the heart with an initial.

I have this little plastic canvas envelope standing on a narrow shelf, but one could certainly hang it with a ribbon, or even add a magnet to the back to use it on the fridge, or inside a metal locker. I don’t think one can ever have too many little scraps of paper to grab when needed, and certainly in this day and age of texting and such, a rebirth of writing little notes of love and encouragement to stick in lunches and place around the house is surely a wonderful thing to do!

And as you can see, some little plastic canvas houses make great company for this memo holder, so make them all!

 Supplies for Plastic Canvas Envelope:

• 1 6 x 6 inch piece of 7 count plastic canvas (or any size square you desire)
• red and blue worsted weight yarn for embroidery
• a yarn needle

 Instructions For Plastic Canvas Envelope:

Step 1:

Cut a piece of 7 count plastic canvas such that it measures 6 inches x 6 inches. Rotate the square 45 degrees as seen in diagram above, and fold left, right and bottom corners on the dotted lines such that the three points meet.

Step 2: Starting at the bottom left corner, embroider a line which joins the two edges such that they lie side by aide with no overlap, then continue around and go down the other side to form the second join line, indicated in the diagram.

The remaining embroidery is decorative and can be done as shown here to resemble an air mail envelope, or not. Though certainly a stitch to cover the remaining bare edges is necessary to give the project a finished look.

For placement and exact size of heart, take a close look at the photographs, and note that the embroidery was done with vertical stitches.
