Gorgeous Flowering Bushes In Connecticut!

Blooming Bushes Connecticut Azalea pink and peach

One of the amazing things about out recent visit to New Hartford, Connecticut, was the fact that Spring came a bit late this year, and many of the flowering bushes either had just opened or actually opened during our week there! What can I tell you, it was truly a treat for me to arrive at our vacation rental and see buds on bushes that then became colorful globes of vibrant pink flowers within days!

The red rhododendruns were just starting to open, wish I could go back not to see them all in bloom!

Blooming Bushes In Connecticut White Rhododendrun

Interestingly enough this white rhododendrun is already in full bloom. And while this is pretty, it is certainly a good example of why one should prune flowering bushes, so they don’t end up leggy like this one.

Clumps of flowering bushes, in the foreground azaleas, look wonderful in a bed with other non flowering species.

And here it is in a larger bush, gorgeous!

Blooming Bushes Connecticut Lilac

And while not as stunning as azaleas or rhododendruns, lilacs certainly have their place in any garden, as the fragrance is truly wonderful. And come to think of it, lilacs are actually the perfect complement to a informal  cottage style garden with climbing roses, and wonderful to cut and bring inside.

And here is a photo of those little stunning azalea bushes that I enjoyed gazing at while I sat and stared at this beautiful lake…….sigh. And now, my biggest question is whether azaleas and rhododendruns grow in Israel, and how well they do in containers. I’m imagining that they prefer cold winters and a dormant period so no problem here in the North, I’ll have to look into this further come Rosh HaShana and the completion of shemittah year in which I am not acquiring or replanting anything.

The bush you wasn’t sure of, I think you will find that is just another Azalea. Actually mine looked like that this year, very sparse, but it has turned into a beautiful green bush now.Thank you for the beautiful pictures.
