Simple Paper Rosebud Tutorial For All Ages!

Paper Rosebud Tutorial step by step photos

Paper rosebuds are so very sweet and so simple to make for all ages. The examples made in these photos were made by 11 year old girls in my Crafting A Future class, though slightly younger children can certainly make them as well with a bit of help. It’s also great practice for kids to try drawing an even spiral, which is difficult for some, and certainly those who don’t draw enough!

How To Make A Paper Rosebud:

Step 1: Draw a spiral on a circular piece of paper

Step 2: Cut out the spiral by cutting on the line.

Step 3: Starting at the center, roll the spiral onto itself as tightly and neatly as possible. OR, latest breaking news is that my daughter actually made this bouquet above by rolling from the outside in, which is why hers look more uneven. So try both ways and see which suits you. When you roll from the outside in, you can then opt to glue the center to the underside of the flower to form a little base.

Step 4: Release the spiral such that the flower opens, and use as is, or secure the end to the side of the rosebud without letting go, for a tighter flower.

That’s it, and do make a bunch, you’re gonna need them when you realize how many great ways there are to use these sweet little flowers! (Some more projects from me coming up, I feel it!)

How do you get the rose buds to stay together without falling down when one is completed?

Hi Samantha, good question! When you roll from the outside inward, the very center acts as a little plate of sorts that you can blue the whole spiral to. Flowers that have already been made without a base can be stabilized by adding glue between the rounds here and there. Hope that helps!
