Crocheted Giant Doily Rug In Two Colors, And Pattern Corrections!

Crocheted Giant Doily Rug, looking down

Isn’t this crocheted giant doily rug made with two colors of t-shirt yarn just gorgeous? I can say that since while it is my pattern, it’s not my ingenuity, the two color idea that is! This is the work of Liat, who blogs in Hebrew about her crochet love, here. And the two color idea was just one of those things….she ran out of turqoise and decided to use what she had on hand!

And guess what, just as thrilling as seeing her execute my pattern so nicely, was the fact that she has worked out one little problem with the pattern, isn’t that just too wonderful? And for those of you who are more comfortable reading in Hebrew, a hebrew pattern will be on the way, sometime soon, thanks also to Liat. How about a big round of applause for readers who help me make this blog a collaboration!

So do take a look at my pattern for this crocheted giant doily rug, with revisions indicated, and enjoy!

Hi, I am making this rug for my new granddaughters room. Did you have trouble with it being wavy and not laying flat? I have checked the amount of stitches and all that and have re read the pattern and it is all wavy. I am on the 4th round.
Any help will be appreciated. I have crocheted for 32 years and have made lots of doilies and blankets, clothes, etc, I know it usually means you have too many stitches per round.
I thought maybe the more rounds I get on, the flatter it will become, but wanted your input.
    Thanks so very much.

I made a rug similar to this many years ago..late 70s?….anyway, I just used a regular doily pattern and rug yarn with a larger hook, maybe a K. I like your patterns better, mine had too many spaces in it. lol

Cannot follow the pattern 🙁 The endings and beginnings of the rows are weird, unreadable. My work has has some weird part where the rows end. It is not symmetrical. Too bad 🙁
Would be easier if you had a larger picture of the entire work or if you’d count the repetitions.
