Duct Tape & Up-Cycled Rain Boots For A Costume!

Duct Tape Costume Boots

Crafting with duct tape is something I’ve been wanting to do for months, and now finally I present you with a great idea for making any costume that much better: up-cycled rain boots + duct tape = the boots of your child’s dreams, in this case Sea Captain boots. So goodbye to our cute little Target frog boots, and hello to some boots that I know my seven year old will just squeel over when he comes home from school today!

Next up on the list, duct tape boots for a robot, it’s a good thing we held onto those fireman rain boots with the hole in them! Sometimes being a pack rat can come in handy when it comes to making your kids happy with fun costumes, right?

Duct Tape Ships Captain Boots

You’ll Need:

  • duct tape
  • contact paper and or electric tape
  • a sharp pair of scissors
  • some old rainboots

How To:

Cover those old boots in duct tape, it doesn’t have to be perfect, and perfection would be very hard to achieve in any case, as the duct tape is difficult to work with. Use smaller pieces to cover up any really bumpy areas, and don’t dwell on the fact that there are bumps and ridges, not important, this is a costume!

Use contact paper and/or electric tape to add details that are relevant to the costume. Sit back and admire your great job, and give yourself a pat on the back for being such a great mom (parent, that is, if there are any men actually reading this?)

That’s all for now, gotta go whip up one peacock, and one robot…..wish me luck!

Actually, my knight wannabe is going to have his boots silver duct-taped by his daddy. And actually I thought of it before I read this 🙂
I think boots won’t be necessary for the butterfly costume though 🙂
    Happy Purim!
