Yarn Stores In Israel!

Yippee, at long last a list of yarn stores in Israel, and the knowledge that there truly exists several stores that look like you’d find around the world…….stocked from head to toe in yarn and run by yarn lovers! Didn’t know whether such a thing existed in Israel, and now I know that with some effort I don’t have to settle for making things from the really cheapo polyester yarns available to me in my little town in the North.

This information came about thanks to two different readers who this week asked me about yarn stores in Israel. Don’t know why I never thought to google it, didn’t think there would be info in English, but I was wrong!

So here you are dear yarn lovers:

  1. A nice list of yarn stores in chart form, from wrapped troubles
  2. A second list of yarn stores in list form on angelfire

And after a brief perusal of the information, for starters, I found information about at least two of the stores that will satisfy most of our yarn needs! Not that either store is close to me, but on my next trip I’ll know where to go!

  1. In Raanana, theres a store called gourmet yarn shop
  2. In Tel Aviv there’s a store called Ha Tachana, and for a photo of the storefront and a little info in English, take a look here.

If any of you know of yarn stores that are well stocked beyond the standard polyester yarns, and are more than just a corner in a sewing shop, or women’s clothing store (which is what I have access to) please do let us know!

Wondering if there are any good places for beads (for jewelry and wire crafts) in israel different than the stuff available in america

Hi Lauren, Not so famiiiar with beading supplies, but honestly in todays world, just about everything is available in the US, and the beads here probably come from the same sources as anywhere, India and China, I would think. You may find some things here, like ceramic beads, that are more middle eastern, and not seen as much in the US, but not 100% sure about that. I would guess that if you buy in Arab markets you may find things that are more unusual as their goods come through a different route than what youd find in bead stores. All the best!

hi, i am so happy that the the list is helping people. i was extremely frustrated when i came to israel because i too was stuck with polyester and acrylic yarns whereever i went. i have to say that i allways go to the woolstore in frishman 32, tel aviv now. she is so friendly and helpful and has different kinds of wool that you would expect in a yarnstoore in europe. even though it is a really small place- still my favorite =) and if anyone has any sugestions to add things to the list just let me know!

After 5 years in country I still got most of my cotton yarns during my regular trips to Hungary. I think I’ll continue to do so, because it’s just cheaper to get my favourite brands there, but I also love HaTachana.

Wow so I see that this was a year ago but for anyone else who stumbles accross this post there are some bead stores at the southern end of Allenby street in Tel Aviv. I live in Kfar Saba and there’s a nice art store in Raanana called Aqvarel (they also have a branch in Tel Aviv but I’ve never been there) that has some beading supplies.
