Knitting With Ruffles Yarn

Knitting With Ruffles Yarn

Ever heard of ruffles yarn? Not to worry, I hadn’t either until I came across this interesting skein in my local yarn store, and just couldn’t resist!  Knitting with “ruffles” takes a bit of practice but certainly could be a great detail for a cuff or collar. And a reader contributed a great idea on one craft schooling Sunday, which was to use this yarn to create crewel like effects by sewing down the middle of the yarn. Will try to find the link to that post shortly, and also should mention that I used some ruffles yarn for crocheting an outer layer of petals on a very large chunky flower. So, while I don’t think I’ll be knitting with ruffles yarn, I will definitely be using it in my crafting adventures!

Thanks Ita, personally I think its just a fun yarn for a bunch of things! Its available in a bunch of color combos, and is widely available at any store stocking yarn, since its also made by an Israeli yarn company whose name escapes me at the moment, but if you want to know I can check for you!

This is so neat! I’m a basic knitter, but I love yarns like this that make it look fancier. Would love to know the maker too:)

Hi Cheryl, I believe Lion Brand makes ruffles yarn as do many other yarn companies, all the best! You may want to look for the video which shows how to knit with it unless someone in a yarn store shows you.

Hi Ita, The Israeli brand that makes ruffles yarn is called Vitalgo, Im sure you can find it if they sell it in my neighborhood! Its available in at least 4 color options, enjoy! Though dont ask for it as ruffles as theres no name on the label, and I really dont know what its called in Hebrew!
