Polymer Clay Miniature Food Craft For Kids

Polymer Clay food bisquit and cheese
Polymer clay is a great thing to have on hand when the kids are in need of a fun project. And if you happen to have kids, like my daughter, who enjoy making teeny tiny things, well you’re in luck because a little polymer clay will go a long way!

Polymer Clay Miniature Food
Once baked, items made from polymer clay can become magnets, pins, or even be glued to a picture frame. The possibilities are really endless, and of course one could make doll house miniatures too. I mean really who would have though that one could make such a great looking pita sandwich with falafel and fries (that’s how it’s eaten here…..), and check out that bagel! And just for the record, this project was made with zero input from mom…..zero, zilch, nada, really!

Mmm yummie! After seeing this, I really think we need to bake some gingerbread cookies in clay for the play kitchen, as Christmas is coming up!

My kids have been working with polymer clay for a few years, and we probably have about 300 little pieces of food and utensils they have made by themselves. (I admit to throwing many of them away over the years) There is a great book called The Polymer Clay Cookbook that my kids use as inspiration and instructions.
Maybe we should start a kids’ polymer clay swap or something?

oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my kids made a small polymer clay frying pan with latkes in one of the past years. Challahs have been widely practiced as well.

That sounds great! Thanks for all the comments. Didnt really have a chance to try much Dutch cheese, we ate whatever our hosts bought which was mostly imported from Antwerp for kosher reasons, and in any case, with all the amazing things to see food was the last thing on my mind!

apparently there is a type “Dutch” cheese they make in Holland that is kosher, though I’m not sure if it’s chalav Yisrael.
My Dutch friend will be returning home in the next two weeks and promises to bring me back some. Yummm. She brought me a cheese slicer last time. I love good cheese! That was one of my sacrifices when I lived in Israel…never could find good sharp cheeses locally produced.

I also gave up on the idea of appreciating cheese here, though there is now good brie and camembert but its quite expensive. Let me know if the cheese is chalov yisroel, my hostess did say there was one cheese that they eat, though dont think we tryed it…….At one point there was a Dutch woman living in my town who made delicious goat cheese, even hard cheese, but i moved away and when I came back she had closed down alack alas! Truthfully Im happy eating feta!
