Purim Decorations…….Crepe Paper Flowers & Clowns Galore!

Crepe Paper Flowers In Frame

Purim decorations are a great reason to fill the house with colorful crafts— not that one needs an excuse, but at least you won’t have to explain yourself! I had planned to share some mishloach manot crafts with you today, but my photo studio (aka the great outdoors) was drenched so when the clouds parted for a minute I quickly snapped these photos indoors to share with you. I mentioned that I’d been filling frames and chandeliers with crepe paper flowers, and a kind reader asked if I’d share that with you.

Crepe Paper Flowers Decorate Chandelier

I love the bright balls of color on my chandelier, which is always decorated according to the season/occasion. Yes, our house looks like a perpetual birthday party sometimes—don’t you think that sounds good?

And just in case you may have missed the crepe paper flowers, well we’ve got a wall of jolly clowns adorning a long wall in the dining room. Yes, my friends, there’s no mistaking it, Purim is on its way!

Gorgeous! Looks like your having Frida Kahlo over for the party!

Thanks Peaches, yes shed definitely fit right in! And now my daughter had changed her costume plans and is going to dress up Mexican style, so I realize that braids would be good too!

Hi! I love flowers like this – never thought to hang them from a chandelier though – Gor-GE-ous!
Can you tell me what Purim is? I had never heard of it! It seems to coincide with the Christian Shrove Tuesday or Lent…. Do you know if it always does?
    Thanks!
PS – I love your blog!

Thanks so much! Purim is the Jewish holiday that celebrates the historic events which are documented in the Book of Esther. The entire Jewish people were saved from demise, so
Purim is a very special and joyful holiday which includes costumes for the kids and giving gifts of food to neighbors and friends, as well as lots of celebrating.
Our calendar is a lunar one, (which requires this year an entire extra month to get back on track) so the Jewish holidays fall at different times in relation to the gregorian calendar.
This year Purim is around the same time as carnival but that is pure coincidence, as there is no connection between the two. all the best!

they’re beautiful! my daughter *loves* the history of Purim; Esther is such a wonderful example of a strong young woman.

I’m thinking about incorporating some of your fiesta flair into Passover. I’m researching those Mexican tissue paper banners…so pretty. I’m sure there must be a diy project in there somewhere!

to share. My husband brought back some plastic versions from Mexico that Im saving for a long term decoration in a kids room, hmmmm or maybe in my studio? take care xoxoxo
