This is quite simply the easiest and quickest crochet project I’ve ever done, short of crocheting a chain! You may want to use them as bracelets, but honestly I’m thinking picture frames or some other decorative item! (Check back on Tuesday to see what I just did with 9 of them, or actually started to do with them!)
It all started with a trip to the dollar store, where I spied packs of 20 skinny bangles for a dollar, and bought some to use for Succah decorations (you’ll have to wait and see what’s in store, and it’s good, so I’d suggest stocking up on some of those bangles too!) The bangles were sitting out Thursday night, and it occurred to me to try crocheting around them. I took a quick look at my stash and grabbed some cotton variegated yarn that I hadn’t used since I really don’t care much for variegated yarn, but I loved the colors!
I started to single crochet around two bangles as I was putting the kids to bed, and low and behold, stripes appeared! It was really quite unexpected (though obvious to a more experienced fiber artiest!) and such a great surprise.
You’ll Need:
- variegated (space dyed) cotton yarn and an appropriately sized hook
- thin metal bangle bracelets
How To:
For plain bracelets, simply single crochet aroudn the bracelet until it’s completely filled. For the other bracelet, single crochet around the entire bracelet, join with a slip stitch, and for the second round crochet as follows:
sc, *skip 2 stitches,[sc,hdc,dc,hdc,sc] in next stitch, skip 2 stitches, sc,
continue around from *
