Sculpting With Pipe Cleaners: Fun and Practically Mess Free!

Pipe cleaner sculpture

I’m sure you realize that I don’t generally worry about mess when crafting with the kids, as that would be very limiting! I try to protect work surfaces and the kids as best as I can, and the rest is part of the deal! That being said, this is the perfect project to keep little hands busy after they’ve had a bath and are waiting for dinner, (like last night!) which by the way I’ve found is a very good time to do some simple projects.

All you need is some pipe cleaners and pieces of styrofoam for bases. And I used a little vanilla extract bottle for the vase, too cute! Little sculptures like this could be sweet table top decor any time!

Yes, you really can never have too many pipe cleaners on hand. One thing we like to do at my house is make pipe cleaner people. You can make a chain of them, just like a paper doll chain. The possibilities of play are endless as the kids decide how to use these stick/action figures.

Oh, thanks for reminding me of this! Reminds me of my childhood. It’s been so long since I’ve seen a pipe cleaner….you’re right, it’s the perfect non-messy craft! (Which is the kind I like best!) I will be getting myself to the local craft store later this week!

Hi Shira, Glad to inspire, pipe cleaners are great for so many things, check out the birthday crowns I made with them too! All the best, happy crafting.
