Be Fearless And Knit Something Original!

Knitted-Triangular-Cabled-

This post is for the experienced knitters, the knitting daredevils and the beginning knitters who need some inspiration to get started. First of all, my apologies for the fact that I can’t supply you with a pattern for this beauty. I knit this quite a few years ago and can’t believe today that I actually was able to do such a thing given my serious lack of knitting knowledge! But I was apparently fearless, as I had fallen in love with a photo of a cabled shawl for a toddler. I decided that I could use that pattern for reference and make something for myself, and this was the result! On my daughter it looks a bit like the original design, only there are long tails in front which make it more like a triangular scarf for me.

So if you’ve always dreamed of knitting something special, go for it! When there’s a will there’s a way. And if you see that it’s not going as you’d hoped, you can always un-ravel your work and use the wool for another project. You may have lost some time, but probably gained some valuable practice that will hopefully be of use for another project!

Note: And if you by chance have fallen for this shawl, so print it out, and take it to your local knitting store. I’m sure they can help you figure out a pattern for this, or find something comparable. And if that doesn’t work, so cut a triangular piece of fleece fabric, sew on a few cute buttons, and call it a day!

Ponchos with tassles are the hight of UK fashion at the moment… indeed I have been admiring several such ponchos only last week end… now if only I could find one in the ‘right’ colour (whatever the ‘right’ colour might be) I would be happy.
The one in the picture looks amazing though!

Not sure where to put this so hopefully you will find it here… I’ve just added a ‘cbox’ onto my blog… it really is proving fruitful. Allows readers to just say hi.
Oh did I mention its a free tool?

This is a very pretty shawl. I haven’t tried cables yet – but now I see I’ll have to put it on my list for this winter!

Great! Cables look much more complicated than they are, just make sure you have a cable needle on hand and youre set!

I have just spent the last 2 hours reading your blog. Such a lovely surprise on such a rainy day! I can’t believe I didn’t know about it earlier. Jewish craft is such a rare thing here in the Blog Land. Your ideas are amazing. You made me a very happy woman. It was a pleasure to find this not so typical Israeli blog. Thank you for that!

Hi Tali, what great timing! I guess knitting is in the air Ive got some more simple knitting projects planned for the blog for next week. As far as knitting and reading at the same time, well my mother has a friend who used to knit in the movie theater, so I guess anything is possible. And amazingly enough there are knitting and crochet patterns translated into braille! All the best with the knitting, perserverence always pays off!
