With all the paper crafting going on around here, it is time to give one of my great loves, crochet, a bit of attention! Crocheted items have always been a big part of our family Chanukah celebrations as I have a long-standing tradition of making crocheted gelt pouches and baskets, to gift on the first night of Chanukah, filled with chocolate coins and little gifts. While there were some sleepless nights when the kids were young, I kept at it! Now I can’t imagine a Chanukah without crochet, so time to get started! (Check out my crochet for Chanukah post, to get inspired!) These six pointed crocheted stars are rustic and lovely and can be used in so many ways. I love the creme color, and will be decorating our home this year with neutrals and greens and a bit of blue toile, so these stars fit right in. Okay, lets do it!

Crochet Six Pointed Star Pattern
You’ll Need:
• 100% cotton mercerized worsted weight yarn (or anything really)
• A 2.5mm hook or “O” steel hook
• The diagram below. Please learn to read diagrams, it is a must! Ah yes, and also learn to make magic circles, indicated in the diagram below.

How To Use Six Pointed Crocheted Stars
Okay, you’re sold, but wondering how to use these stars? Here is a short list to get you thinking!
• Thread onto a velvet ribbon and make a napkin ring
• Attach stars in a row and make a garland
• Hang individually from a garland with a loop of string
• Use as applique on a hat or sweater
• Glue a round piece of card stock on the back and make a gift tag

And if you don’t crochet, learning just to make these is truly worth it!
