With the Jewish month of Adar coming up on Sunday night, now is the time to make cardboard fish, as the fish is the sign for the month of Adar! These fish, made by 3rd grade boys are just so very sweet, and while they are on the small side, one could certainly make them much larger as with the cardboard fish tutorial I’m doing with 4th graders. Teaching kids how to draw something, in this case a fish, and then using that drawing to make a cut-out that can be used for holiday decor is so much fun, so let’s do it! This coming week a few of my third graders are going to make many fish to hang from their cardboard crowns as a fun Purim mobile, though other kids expressed their interest in making an aquarium of some kind, so maybe we’ll have to do that too! But first let’s make some fish!

You’ll Need:
• my how to draw fish tutorial
• colored paper
• cereal box or other light weight cardboard
• a glue stick, scissors, a few pens and pencils
How To:
Practice filling a page with fish, and then choose the best ones to cut out and mount on cereal box cardboard, or draw right on the cereal box and cut out the best one.
Add details by making an paper accordion for the body, and add fins and other details with contrasting colors.
Make a whole school and make a fun wall hanging, or attach.them to skewers and use as cake toppers or vase inserts.
Enjoy!
