Now is the time to learn how to make cardboard hamentaschen craft because Purim is coming next week and these are truly just as adorable as can be! Last year was called “purim mishulash” meaning Purim on Friday, then shabbat, then Shushan Purim, for three days of celebrations, so this triangular shaped traditional cookie, also called “oznei haman” was perfect. Of course this is the cookie for Purim, so perfect really any year, and these can be used as gift tags, garlands, or make a plate full and attach to your front door, as I did last year.

This year I’ve made these with some of my students, and I’ll share that shortly, with centers in a range of colors, and cookies in a range of sizes, ……but in the meantime, get your supplies together and start crafting as the more the better!

You’ll Need:

• recycled cardboard

• sparkle craft foam

• round items to use as templates, such as small plates, jar lids, etc.

• something to score cardboard with, like a ballpoint pen with no ink, or a bone folder

• a ruler and scissors

• hot glue or high tack craft glue

How To:

After cutting out the circle, roughly find the 3 points within the circle that are the points of the triangle, and mark with a pencil. Score lines between these points and fold. This doesn’t have to be accurate, just more or less, as you can also fold the resulting flaps over one another to close the cardboard cookie a bit more than shown in these photos.

Apply craft foam “filling” with glue and then close the sides and apply glue to fix in place.

Make a bunch in many sizes and colors and use them in so many ways!
