How To Make A Shrink Plastic Crown Wall Hanging Element

Lets learn how to make a shrink plastic crown wall hanging element or actually a shrinky dink shrink plastic crown to use in anyway you like! Just preferably figure out how you’ll use it before shrinking it so that you can put the necessary holes in the plastic where they be needed for hanging! This shrink plastic crown is actually part of a wall hanging that will be used in the succah, and I have yet to punch the holes that will be used for hanging the individual 7 holy species.

While I generally try to use recycled materials in craft projects with my students, I do love to treat them to shrink plastic and it also gets them to draw, which can sometimes be like pulling teeth! Okay, lets do it (not pull teeth, silly) and get the whole family involved, why not?

You’ll Need:

• the largest shrink plastic sheet available, which I believe is A4 or letter sized, mine is white, yours does not have to be

• colored pencils

• a regular pencil, ruler, blank paper, masking tape

How To:

• Have kids draw and plan the design on plain white paper first, this is crucial

• Tape design onto table with masking tape, and then tape shrink plastic down, on top of design.

• Trace design preferably with colored pencils, as regular pencil tends to smear, though can be useful for defining and outlining. Make sure to draw on the non-glossy side.

• Make sure shapes in light colors are outlined and lettering is bold enough.

• Punch holes where needed for use in a wall hanging of some kind, a cake topper, a napkin ring, a bookmark charm……..

• Shrink in over according to instructions
