Looking for a super satisfying craft to do with a craft inclined child 7 years or so and up? Learn how to make tiny polymer clay dollhouse food with kids, and whether you actually use it for a dollhouse or maybe as kitchen magnets, the results are just too adorable! I made this craft with a 7 1/2 year old who dove right in herself making all the little food, with no input from me! I made the bowls/baskets and assembled the pie, and it was a wonderful collaboration! We ( 7 1/2 year old, her 10 1/2 year old sister, me, and my daughter for a small portion of the time) actually had a marathon polymer clay crafting session lasting roughly 7 hours (truly!) and while fortunately do not feel the need to make more by myself this was a life changing event for them. And yes, I’ve now ordered them all the supplies for their upcoming birthdays and so happy to have been able to give them the gift of this creative time together. Okay, lets learn about the supplies!

You’ll Need:
• inexpensive polymer clay, that comes in tiny bricks, no need for quality brands when crafting with kids
• something to roll clay, and a knife to cut pie strips, bowl bases, and sides of bowls
• an oven and baking paper plus base of some kind, for baking
How To:
Polymer clay is quite stiff and needs lots of warming up/softening with the hands and by rolling it out. Be very careful to seal unused clay as it will dry out and become useless.
Bowls were made by cutting a circular or oval base and then adding sides with a long strip adhered around the perimeter. The pie was woven from strips on top of a berry filled bowl, and then I added a strip around the edge to neaten it up.

In photo above you’ll see the array of things we created. Those lemons on wires are mine, with the hopes of making a tiny lemon tree.

Happy polymer clay crafting, it can truly create great new horizons for detail oriented children! And for those who might benefit from the motor coordination required for making tiny things, or the patience required for making tiny things, this can be a great exercise, a few at a time.
