Chanukah is coming in just over a month, so now is the time to collect your materials and get crafting! I recommend starting with how to make a hanukkah menorah with tea light cups, as this project is so simple and you can quickly assemble a fun chanukah menorah to set the tone! Also, once you get started you’ll likely think of other ways to make a chanukah menorah with 9 of the same items, like baby food jars, bottles, wine corks and more!
With the project the flames are the show stealer and this is the first time I’ve actually done a 3D flame, which I totally recommend! Okay, lets do it!

Materials For Hanukkah Menorah Made With Tea Light Cups:
• 9 recycled tea light cups, saved after the tea lights were used for shabbat
• metallic colored cardstock, 2 colors, I used gold and pink (which ends up looking like orange from some angles)
• an oblong container, or make one yourself from a shoebox lid!
• a small glass shot glass or other object to raise the shamash
• kosher salt, my go to for filling up containers with a lovely snow-like look
• hot glue gun, glue stick or regular white glue, scissors, a scrap of cereal box cardboard, and a pencil
Hanukah Menorah With Tea Light Cups Instructions:
- Fold your metallic cardstock sheets in half and adhere with glue in order to make a two-sided piece of metallic cardstock (mine is white on one side, you may be able to find two sided)
- Draw a flame that is the right size for your project on a piece of cereal box cardboard, and cut it out.
- Use this as a template and trace around it to create 9 flames in each color.
- On one set of flames, cut a slit from the bottom center to the middle, and on the second set of flames, cut a slit from the tip of the flame down to the middle.
- Connect the two flames via the slit (slide one down into the other) and voila a lovely 3D flame is made. Experiment with just one before cutting slits in them all.
- Don’t worry if the flame isn’t totally stable, you will fix that when you now adhere each flame to the turned over tea light cup with hot glue. Namely you are adhere to the outside bottom of the cup.
- You could choose to decorate the tea light cups themselves with quilling strips of even metallic tape, but I love them as is!
- Happy Chanukah Crafting!
