Are You A Slave To Something?

Pesach goodbye to bread

During my Pesach cleaning I found this tiny challah that I'd been saving to photograph for the
blog, hiding inside this Moroccan dish! And the matzo is something my 6
yr old son made on a class trip to a matzo bakery last week.

Tonight is the first night of Pesach! And that means that this morning around 9am we will be eating our final bites of anything bread related and then burning the leftovers in a communal bonfire! Many of us have worked very very hard to rid out homes of every last trace of anything leavened, and you probably wouldn't believe how many loads of laundry I did today alone! We lock up all the dishes and kitchen items that we've used all year, and bring out our special Pesach dishes which we use only for the holiday. It's so much work and yet so very rewarding when you are finally standing in your home ready to usher in the holiday and to taste freedom! Every year we retell the story of our deliverance from slavery, and every year we try to examine our current lives and leave behind those things that we are slaves to. I highly recommend this for everyone, regardless of whether you celebrate Pesach!

I have to be honest, I am a slave to this blog! Hmmm. But don't worry, I'm not planning on leaving it behind as it gives me just too much satisfaction to have met you all! That said, for the next 7 days or so I will be ignoring the blog just a tiny bit, but I'll be back in full force after the holiday.

Wishing you all a very Happy Passover, a Pesach Kasher V'Sameach!
