A Stunning Connecticut Lake House That We Were Sorry To Leave……

One of the highlights of our month spent in the United States was 8 glorious nights at a fantastic house on a lake in Northwestern Connecticut, in a little town called New Hartford. We felt so fortunate to have located this house online, and it exceeded our wildest dreams……truly a little piece of heaven on earth! The Connecticut lake house was gorgeous and clean both inside and out, and suited our needs so perfectly I still can’t believe it!

With tranquil views like this, I didn’t even miss crafting or creating anything for that matter (well except for that fun vacation themed birthday cake) as I felt so fulfilled just gazing out over the lake, from the spacious lawn, or private lake-side dock and gazebo, or even from the wonderful screened porch.

This is the house’s private dock! The weather was quite warm for part of our stay, and we all enjoyed kayaking, canoeing (boats come with the house) and even paddle boarding and swimming some of the days. The lake only allows boats with motors up to 8hp (very slow) so it is a safe and quiet place to enjoy lake living.

We were busy enough with water activities and visiting with family, but there is also a huge lawn for playing badminton or just tiring out the little ones!

The lake is apparently the cleanest in Connecticut, and one can fish for trout and bass, as you will see many folks doing, and while we didn’t have any luck ourselves, but some expert fishermen gave us a bunch of trout which we enjoyed on the gas grill!

If you happen to visit in the Spring, you may be fortunate to witness all the blooming azaleas, which made our stay even more special! I noticed that the house may be booked for this summer, but if I were you I’d in any case consider going off season, which is what we did……..very few folks on the lake, and a different nightly rate.

Note: For those who keep kosher, there is a kosher food store which stocks just about everything you might need in Waterbury Connecticut, about a 30 minute drive from the lake.
