How to make great birthday decor with cardboard is something everyone ought to have on their radar! Quick cardboard birthday balloons decor might just be the answer you are looking for right now? Need birthday decorations that are adorable, rustic/elegant, and quick to make in a pinch? Look no further, this is it friends, just be sure to always have a white paint pen or two on hand, as that is the secret! I used this set up on a side board next to the dining room table, with the helicopter birthday ornament hanging from the chandelier, and the cardboard balloons birthday photo backdrop on an adjacent wall only seen together with this from the kitchen.

And friends, if you haven’t already picked up on this one, I will scream it loud and clear HAVE KOSHER SALT ON HAND ALWAYS, A FEW BAGS OF IT, as it is truly perfect for anchoring all those decorations on skewers, or as a base for something that needs to sit in a low container. And yes, I save and re-use the salt, why not?

Another tip, save those cardboard cutouts, like the hearts from the box above, as they can truly be useful! I’ll admit I’ve been saving windows from boxes for a while, and have ended up tossing them even, but how that I’ve actually used some of these hearts, I think I’ll proceed with the idea. Cardboard windows can be cute frames for kids crafts, wonderful cards or gift tags, or used literally as a window, say for a tiny chanukah menorah!
You’ll Need:
• recycled cardboard
• a white paint pen
• curling ribbon
• small glass vases or recycled jars
• kosher salt
How To:
I usually make the items and then figure out how to display them, but in your case, first gather the vases, and given their height and size, then create the cardboard items keeping in mind scale and variety.
The balloons are taped to the wall, with other items in the vases, which works really well, but if you are looking for a centerpiece that is viewed from two sides, then by all means, make your balloons on skewers or hang them from the chandelier above. For centerpieces, think of going long, like trough style, with one large grouping in the center of the table and some smaller groupings on each end, if that is possible.
The main thing is not to stress, this is supposed to be quick and fun with great results!
Basically draw your items in pencil, getting the proportions right. Then cut out and add borders and dots with a white paint pen. Add strings for the balloons, and glue skewers to the back where necessary. Make a few extras for cake toppers, and that is it!
