How To Grow Red Canna In Northern Israel

Looking for a great plant for your summer garden? Learn how to grow red canna in Northern Israel, or anywhere for that matter! Red canna has stunning flowers and really dramatic and large burgandy leaves, not to mention height! Here in zone 8/9 I am able to leave the canna tubers in the pot after the plant dies back in the winter, but if you live in a colder zone, simply move the pot to your garage, or remove the tubers from the soil until spring. I also have yellow canna, which is beautiful as well, so do consider canna! I also just learned that canna can be grown hydroponically, meaning it is great to place in a boggy area or grow in a pond, or even a patio pond made in a pot (will do that next year, or even in September, stay tuned!)

I’ll admit that this plant has been quite neglected, with no fertilizer or soil refreshment, and yet it blooms just the same!

I did have to add a stake for support, which maybe can be prevented by fertilizing next year, will have to see!

That is it for a little look at my red canna, enjoy!
