How To Make Doodle Landscapes With Just Crayons And A Ballpoint Pen

Are you possibly on vacation right now and itching to do something creative, but didn’t bring the art supplies, and don’t really want to buy more? Friends, I was in just this predicament last week and so now I can share with you how to make doodle landscapes with just crayons and a ballpoint pen, and or course some white paper. Making art does not have to be about the right supplies or the right anything for that matter, as the point is to just apply color to paper, whether in a pattern or as a doodle landscape as I’ve done. Honestly, this was the first thing I’ve actually drawn for myself in I believe two years, yikes, as so many other creative pursuits pushed the art making aside. And yet, there I was at a friend’s house, where she had pens and crayons on hand for her grandchildren, and it inspired me to just take a pen to paper and then add color with crayons. This was the result, and then, yippee, the next week on the road I actually took my sketchbook and some minimal supplies and filled a few pages, which I’ll share with you soon. The lesson is don’t wait for the right supplies or the right time, just start doodling!

Not sure what to doodle? Look outside, or draw something on the table as a still life, or make geometric patterns. Or draw some apples and fill those with patterns, or make some large letters as a base and go from there. Don’t worry about the outcome, just enjoy combining colors and shapes in a very low pressure way.

I actually enjoyed this so much, I think maybe I need to get some basic crayons and do it again! Happy doodling friends!
