How To Make A Fun Card From Recycled Paper Scraps

Looking for a fun way to make a card for any occasion, and want it to be truly memorable? Look no further, as I will teach you how to make a fun card from recycled paper scraps that will truly wow the recipient! True this is not for that occasion or recipient that requires something truly sophisticated and elegant, this is for the folks who don’t take themselves too seriously and would appreciate something fun and different entirely. I received this from a very creative friend almost 3 years ago, and of course saved it to photograph and share with you, and will likely continue to save it to show my students as an idea to inspire them. Ready to use up paper scraps and fun scraps of this and that to make a wonderful long card that you then fold up? Let’s do it!

You’ll Need:

• paper scraps of all kinds: colored paper, food wrappers, receipts, magazine pages, you name it, just keep the weight somewhat consistent

• a stapler, scissors and

• a broad tipped black marker (s) plus maybe a paint pen in white or a light color

•. a glue stick/decoupage medium for combining pieces of paper or making collages

• mixed rafia ribbon or some kind of really colorful stiff string to use as a bow to tie it all together in a hank

How To:

1. Decide on the height and width of your folded card, and cut your pieces of recycled paper in strips so that they are all the same height. This “card” is 8cm high and 30 cm long when folded, the total length is roughly 4 meters!
2. Staple all the pieces together, using two staples, one at the top and one at the bottom to attache two overlapping pieces. Make a very long colorful strip!
3. Write your message on the strip.
4. Fold the strip up, either accordian style or like a cinnamon bun, meaning like a flat spiral.
5. Add the colorful bow and voila!
